Amanda Knox “loves Italy” and would like to go back to Perugia despite having spent four years in a prison there before a murder conviction was overturned last year, her lawyer said today.

The lawyer also said Knox, 24, may go back to Italy this year as a defense witness for her parents who are charged with slandering the Perugia police.

Carlo Dalla Vedova, one of Knox’s lawyers, said she “loves Italy and likes Perugia” and that she would like to return to the country “as a tourist, but if necessary she will return to testify in the trials against her parents,” Italian wire service Ansa reported.

Dalla Vedova told ABC News, “I hope they will be acquitted.They certainly didn’t make any defamatory remarks when they repeated Amanda’s statement to the press.”

The former couple faces slander charges that could put them in prison for up to three years for an interview they gave to The Sunday Times of London in 2009.

Curt Knox told the paper, “Amanda was abused physically and verbally. She told us she was hit in the back of the head by a police officer with an open hand, at least twice. The police told her, ‘If you ask for a lawyer, things will get worse for you’ and ‘If you don’t give us some explanation for what happened, you’re going to go to jail for a very long time.’ “

Knox’s mother, Edda Mellas, told the newspaper that her daughter was informed she would never see her family again.

A preliminary hearing was held today. Knox is expected to be the only witness for the defense.

Judge Giuseppe Noviello rejected the request of defense lawyers to have the trial, which will begin on March 30, moved from Perugia.

Knox was also indicted for slandering police officers when she testified in her defense that the police yelled at her, denied her a lawyer and cuffed her on the back of the head several times during a marathon interrogation. . A hearing on Knox’s slander charge is scheduled for July.

Knox spent four years of a 26 year sentence in a Perugia prison on charges she killed her British roommate Meredith Kercher. Her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito was also convicted. A third person, Rudy Guede, was convicted of taking part in the murder in a separate trial.

Knox and Sollecito were exonerated last year when an appeals court overturned the conviction. Knox nearly collapsed from tension when the verdict was read.

While dismissing the murder case, the Italian court upheld a conviction for slandering her former boss Patrick Lumumba of being involved in the murder. Knox was sentenced to three years imprisonment and was ordered to pay restitution to Lumumba, along with a hefty fine.

Knox has said in court that regretted implicating Lumumba, but said she was confused and scared during her night-long interrogation. Her family has contended that the Italian investigators pressured her into implicating Lumumba

Prosecutors have until Feb. 16 to appeal Knox’s acquittal on murder charges and for Knox to appeal her slander conviction against Lumumba .

She received her B.A. from Cornell University, attended Harvard Law School, and received her LL.B. from Columbia Law School. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edmund L. Palmieri, Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, from 1959–1961. From 1961–1963, she was a research associate and then associate director of the Columbia Law School Project on International Procedure. She was a Professor of Law at Rutgers University School of Law from 1963–1972, and Columbia Law School from 1972–1980, and a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences in Stanford, California from 1977–1978. John Paul Stevens (Retired), Associate Justice,
was born in Chicago, Illinois, April 20, 1920. He married Maryan Mulholland, and has four children – John Joseph (deceased), Kathryn, Elizabeth Jane, and Susan Roberta. He received an A.B. from the University of Chicago, and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. He served in the United States Navy from 1942–1945, and was a law clerk to Justice Wiley Rutledge of the Supreme Court of the United States during the 1947 Term. He was admitted to law practice in Illinois in 1949. He was Associate Counsel to the Subcommittee on the Study of Monopoly Power of the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, 1951–1952, and a member of the Attorney General’s National Committee to Study Antitrust Law, 1953–1955. He was Second Vice President of the Chicago Bar Association in 1970. From 1970–1975, he served as a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is considering whether government regulators may still police the airwaves for curse words and other coarse content at a time when so many Americans have unregulated cable television, and the Internet is awash in easily accessible adult material.

The justices are hearing arguments today in a First Amendment case that pits the Obama administration against the nation’s television networks. The material at issue includes the isolated use of expletives as well as fines against broadcasters who showed a woman’s nude buttocks on a 2003 episode of ABC’s “NYPD Blue.”

The broadcasters want the court to overturn a 1978 decision that upheld the Federal Communications Commission’s authority to regulate both radio and television content, at least during the hours when children are likely to be watching or listening. That period includes the prime-time hours before 10 p.m.

At the very least, the networks say the FCC’s current policy is too hard to figure out, penalizing the use of particular curse words on awards programming but not in the airing of the movie “Saving Private Ryan,” for example.

The administration said that even with the explosion of entertainment options, broadcast programming remains dominant. It also needs to be kept as a dependable “safe haven” of milder programming, the administration said.

Nearly nine out of 10 households subscribe to cable or satellite television and viewers can switch between broadcast and other channels by pushing a button on their remote controls. “People have really lost track of which stations are broadcast stations,” said Paul Smith, a partner with the Jenner and Block law firm who has argued First Amendment cases at the Supreme Court.

But supporter of regulation said the media companies that own television networks also have movie studios, cable channels and other outlets where they are free to run whatever they wish.

Even on television, the rules only apply between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., noted Tim Winter, president of the pro-regulation Parents Television Council. “Radio and television broadcasters already have the ability to be as indecent as they want after 10 p.m.”

The FCC policy under attack flowed from the 1978 Pacifica decision, which upheld the FCC’s reprimand of a New York radio station for airing a George Carlin monologue containing a 12-minute string of expletives in the middle of the afternoon.

For many years, the FCC did not take action against broadcasters for one-time uses of curse words. But, following several awards shows with cursing celebrities in 2002 and 2003, the FCC toughened its longstanding policy after it concluded that a one-free-expletive rule did not make sense in the context of keeping the airwaves free of indecency when children are likely to be watching television.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York declared the FCC policy unconstitutionally vague.

The Billboard Music Awards aired on Fox in both 2002 and 2003. Cher used the F-word the first year and reality TV personality Nicole Richie uttered the F-word and S-word a year later. The FCC did not issue a fine in either case, but said the broadcasts violated its policy.

The “NYPD Blue” episode led to fines only for stations in the Central and Mountain time zones, where the show aired at 9 p.m., a more child-friendly hour than the show’s 10 p.m. time slot in the East.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor is not taking part in the case because she served on the appeals court during its consideration of some of the issues involved.

He’s blaming the other guy, his accomplish for the death of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and leaving her daughters, 17-year-old Hayley and 11-year-old Michaela, to die in a fire after his accomplish, Hayes raped the mother and strangled her, and Joshua raped the 11 year old and tied her into her bed to set it ablaze.

People if you are job hunting in a major city like NY, a word of advice – DON’T.

Too many assholes have taken over the bodies of well-balanced thought provoking people who are not calling themselves “small business owners”. What they are currently is “small minded pricks”. Here is another tale from the trenches of my Cathy Haig File – Interview for full time horror story #99999:

Hi – I’m Catherine Haig,

I was offered an interview by a company called forte management in NYC. Look them up, www.FORTENYC.COM – they manage high wealth clientele books and manage them because they – can’t do that themselves obviously and need someone to wipe their asshole.

So enter stage left – ME – I schedule and interview with this whiny bitch named GREG DEYONGER who looked more like a linebacker for the RAMS than a business manager. He complained about people leaving his employment and he wanted people to stay. I then canceled my appointment the next day because I read some rotten reviews on line about their company hiring practices and got a bad feeling about them.

But then I had to go into a client and pick up a check so I rescheduled and went into their offices in SoHo NYC outer Mongolia territory of Varick Street (hard to get to by public transportation cos not every train goes there) but I was there 15 mins early but that did not stop Greg from keeping me waiting 10 minutes after my appointment time so in all I waited 30 minutes.

When he walked in he said “thanks for coming in” and I replied, “thanks for inviting me for this opportunity” to which he sat down and shoved a bunch of papers at me saying “everyone has to take a test and you will also have to take a test” and I said “you told me this just an interview and made no mention of a test. Why didn’t you tell me this prior? I have another place to be in an hour.”

Greg DeYonger stood up, pushed back his chair and said “If you don’t have 30 minutes to give us then you’re out of here. There is no interview!” I called him a fucking asshole and left but I did tell him I was going to notify the NYC Dept of Labor board about his interview process and how it sucks.
